Watching Dubai's New Year's Eve Fireworks from a Yacht

What is known so far, how a fireworks charter runs, and how to choose a yacht for the night.

A private yacht is one of the few ways to spend New Year's Eve in Dubai with only your own group around you. Here is what is known so far, and how to plan the night.

Key Takeaways

  • New Year's Eve falls on Thursday 31 December 2026. Our charters leave Pier 7, Yacht Club, Dubai Marina between 8:30 and 9:00pm.
  • Private New Year's Eve charters start from AED 35,000, VAT included. Superyachts of 100ft or more cost AED 75,000 to AED 180,000 for the evening.
  • For the last New Year, on the night of 31 December 2025, the authorities announced 48 fireworks shows at 40 locations. Details for this year are not published yet.
  • Which displays you see depends on the official programme and your yacht's route. We advise on your planned route when you book, and confirm displays once the programme is published, which may be after the full-refund deadline around 28 December.

When is New Year's Eve 2026, and when do charters sail?

New Year's Eve falls on Thursday 31 December 2026, and the fireworks mark midnight. Our standard NYE charters depart between 8:30 and 9:00pm and return between 2:00 and 3:00am, all from Pier 7, Yacht Club, Dubai Marina.

That timing gives your group a relaxed start. You board, the crew settles everyone in, and the yacht is out on the water well before the countdown. After midnight there is still time on board before the return to the pier, so nobody has to rush ashore the moment the last display ends.

How many fireworks shows does Dubai hold on New Year's Eve?

For New Year 2026, which means the night of 31 December 2025, Dubai's Event Security Committee announced 48 fireworks shows at 40 locations across the emirate (Dubai Media Office, 26 December 2025). The named sites included Burj Khalifa, Global Village, Bab Al Shams Desert Resort, Atlantis The Royal, Al Marmoom Oasis, Expo City Dubai, Dubai Frame, Emirates Golf Club, Dubai Parks and Resorts and Hatta.

Read those figures as a guide to the scale of the night, not a promise for this year.

What has not been published yet for New Year 2027?

New Year 2027 means the night of 31 December 2026. At the time of this update on 5 November 2026, we have not seen an official fireworks list, location map or marine plan for it. Last year's announcements came in the final days of December, so these details may arrive close to the night. Until then:

  • The figures on this page describe New Year 2026 and are a guide only.
  • We cannot yet confirm which displays will run or where.
  • We will update this guide when official details are published.

Which displays can you see from the yacht?

It depends on the official programme for the night and on the route your yacht takes. Last year's official list covered the whole emirate, including inland sites such as Hatta and Al Marmoom Oasis, so no position on the water takes in every show. Coastal displays are the realistic ones to plan around. Standard routes run through Dubai coastal waters, covering Dubai Marina, JBR, Bluewaters Island, Palm Jumeirah and Burj Al Arab.

When you book, our team advises on the planned route for your yacht. Once the official programme is published, we confirm which displays are in view. We do not guarantee a particular display, because the authorities set the programme.

A full refund ends 72 hours before departure, which is around 28 December. Last year's fireworks announcement came on 26 December and the marine traffic plan on 30 December, so this year's details could arrive after that date. Our cancellation terms depend on when you cancel, not on which displays are in view.

How is the sea managed on New Year's Eve?

The authorities treat the sea as part of the night's operation. For New Year 2026, the announcement listed 53 Dubai Police marine security and rescue boats and 12 Dubai Civil Defence marine firefighting boats, within a plan that had a dedicated Marine Sector (same official announcement).

Vessel movements were also controlled last year. The official marine traffic plan for New Year 2026 covered Dubai Marina, Dubai Harbour and Palm Jumeirah, and was fully in effect from 10pm to 2am. It included:

  • One-way navigation before and after midnight
  • A temporary halt to navigation during the midnight transition
  • Closure of marine traffic under the Palm Jumeirah bridges at peak hours
  • Routes and time windows set by vessel size

These measures shaped where and when yachts could move, so a route on the night depends on the rules in force. Plans for New Year 2027 have not been published, and your captain will work within whatever is announced.

On our side, every Monaliza Yachts charter sails with a professional licensed captain and crew, and every charter begins with a safety briefing on board. The briefing is short, and it is worth having every guest on deck for it, especially on a night when the group is in a festive mood.

What does a New Year's Eve charter cost, and what is included?

Private New Year's Eve charters start from AED 35,000 for mid-size cruisers, VAT included. For a superyacht of 100ft or more, NYE prices range from AED 75,000 to AED 180,000 for the evening. New Year's Eve is quoted as a full evening, so it is priced differently from our usual hourly rates, which run from AED 800 to AED 18,000 depending on the yacht.

Charter Price, VAT included
Private New Year's Eve charter on a mid-size cruiser From AED 35,000
Superyacht of 100ft or more AED 75,000 to AED 180,000

The package price includes a licensed captain, an experienced crew, fuel on the standard route, soft drinks and ice. Catering, entertainment and décor are additional and arranged on request; tell us what you have in mind and we will quote them with the yacht, so you see the full cost before you confirm. High-speed transit or custom offshore routes may carry a fuel surcharge.

As a simple example, if a yacht for 20 guests is quoted at AED 35,000, that works out at AED 1,750 per guest for the evening, before extras. The charter itself is priced per yacht. Our price guide covers rates for the rest of the year.

Which yacht should you choose for New Year's Eve?

Start with the size of your group. Our 33 yachts take from 12 to 120 guests, and larger groups of up to 800 can be arranged on request. Plan your guest list around the yacht's limit. Compare every yacht on the fleet page.

For the largest groups, Monaliza AK (151ft) and Monaliza Finesse (150ft) each take up to 120 guests, and Monaliza Carmen (140ft) takes up to 80. If you want a vessel of 100ft or more, our superyacht charter page sets out those options side by side.

For a smaller party, a mid-size yacht keeps the evening relaxed and personal, and leaves more of the budget for the extras that make the night yours. Whichever size you choose, the yacht is private: the only people on board are your guests and our crew.

How should you plan the evening?

Fix your guest count early. It decides which yachts are open to you, and because NYE yachts are usually secured several months in advance, the choice narrows as the date gets closer.

Remind your group about ID. Every guest needs a valid Emirates ID or passport for boarding registration on the night.

Plan to arrive at Pier 7, Yacht Club, Dubai Marina 10 to 15 minutes before your departure time. On the highest-demand night of the year, it is worth allowing extra time for the journey to the marina.

Choose flat shoes, because heeled footwear is not allowed on any vessel. Bring a light layer too, as you will be on the water until around 3am.

Decide early on food, drinks and any entertainment, so they can be arranged and quoted with the yacht. If this is your first time on a yacht in Dubai, our first-time yacht charter guide covers boarding and life on board in more detail.

Planning for a corporate group or a family

If you are hosting a company celebration, tell us how many guests are coming, whether you need time for a welcome or a toast before midnight, and, if you add catering, any dietary requirements, so the crew can plan the evening around them.

For a family evening, mention the ages of any children in your group when you enquire. It helps us suggest a yacht with the right space on board for everyone, from the youngest guests to the grandparents.

When should you book?

As early as you can. The earlier you enquire, the more choice you have over the size and style of yacht. If you are enquiring now, message us and we will tell you what is still available.

December is also motorsport month in the UAE: the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix runs from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 December 2026. If you are planning both, read our Abu Dhabi Grand Prix by yacht guide as well.
